Data Protection

Last updated July 22, 2026

RentFAX maintains administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the personal information it collects, maintains, and furnishes as a consumer reporting agency for vehicle-rental screening.

Our role

As a consumer reporting agency, RentFAX independently maintains consumer files and carries its own compliance duties under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and applicable state law. RentFAX is not merely a data processor acting on another party’s instructions — it is responsible for the accuracy, security, and lawful disclosure of the information contained in its reports.

Security safeguards

RentFAX maintains reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. These include access controls, encryption in transit and at rest where feasible, activity monitoring, vendor oversight, and secure disposal of records.

Lawful disclosure

RentFAX discloses consumer report information only to parties with a permissible purpose under applicable law — principally vehicle-rental operators screening a renter in connection with a rental — and to service providers, identity-verification vendors, and legal authorities as permitted or required by law. RentFAX does not sell personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

Retention

RentFAX retains records only as long as reasonably necessary for legal, contractual, operational, dispute-resolution, fraud-prevention, and recordkeeping purposes, and disposes of them securely when they are no longer needed.

Your rights

Consumers may request access to information about themselves and dispute the accuracy or completeness of any item. See our Privacy Policy and Renter Rights for details.
